Changes to visas for Chinese citizens
This is Stephanie of IMS.
The U.S. State Department has announced that beginning June 11th, certain visas issued for Chinese citizens may have their term of validity limited based on the consular officer’s decision. Currently, many visas — including business and travel — are issued for the maximum possible length.
The State Department has not given specifics, but one U.S. official has said that Chinese graduate students in particular will have their visas limited to one year if they are studying in fields like robotics, aviation and high-tech manufacturing. These fields and similar were defined as priorities in China’s “Made in China” 2025 manufacturing plan.
